The Best Memories are Made on the Farm!

Farm are so fun and beautiful, and cozy and warm and full of opportunity. Remember when you went to visit a farm? It was an entirely different experience than other places you have visited. Farms are the American dream and are a unique place to entertain when they are properly maintained with spaces available to safely entertain. We have Always worked hard to engage guests in a fun and safe farm environment.  The results are lifelong memories for guests. See what it takes to entertain on the farm.

Entertaining Groups on a Farm

Most summer months on the farm are the perfect time for entertaining guests. Spring offers new life on the farm including baby bunnies, chicks, kitties, lambs, calves and piglets. Guests love to see, touch and hold anything little. This is a perfect opportunity to invite friends and groups over to share in the newness of life. If the timing is right,  you may even witness a birth.

The farm is a magical place for events. Allowing others to host their own events at your farm might be an opportunity for income. Hosting small homeschool groups is a great opportunity to share what you have with others. Your farm needs to be a safe place for children to play. Enforcing rules and limitations of where children can go is a must. A good insurance plan in place is always a must when having groups to your farm.

Fun on the Farm through Safe Play

Safe Play

I’ve always considered our farm to be ‘safe’ compared to so many other ‘junky’ farms. We don’t have a manure pit to fall in to and we don’t have heavy equipment traveling through the barnyard. We have safe fencing, meaning no barbed wire exposed. We have a circular farm. This means that you can stand in the middle of the driveway and see the barn, the house and the play area  by just spinning in a circle. We have a safe walking path the goes around the vicinity. We do have a zip line that could pose as a threat to safety. Some things are ‘use at your own risk’. We do let kids play in the hayloft which has a climbing rope and a place to roller-skate or scooter.

Animal safety is always on my mind when children want to feed our cows. We do not pet our cows. I’m talking full grown cows. The kids always want to touch their heads and most of the time it is fine but the cows often jerk their heads up which can cause a child’s hand to break or get injured. Most other animals are docile and easy to touch and poke around. The kitties are often very small in spring and I usually do not allow kids to hold them. Fall groups have that opportunity.

Large Event Opportunities

The farm is home to magical moments to remember. Hosting large events such as weddings, reunions or camping weekends is an opportunity for investment. Our farm was the host to the entirety of our wedding during the hot month of August. We also hosted my brothers reception (he was married at Bridal Veil Falls in Yosemite National Park!) but came ‘home’ for his reception. Both of these large events were an opportunity to gather an increased number of adult couples, children, alcohol and barn dances. Both of these events went off without a hitch, meaning they were excellent events. With a large sum of time pre-planning, any large event can be accomplished.

Birthday Parties

Most children love running, petting fury animals and eating sugar. It’s what kids are made of and that’s why farms are a great place to host a birthday party. The hay loft of an old barn is a unique place to party, assuming they can climb the steps to the loft.  That has always been a consideration for our farm. To make the farm wheelchair accessible is a challenge we have not tackled yet.

With some planning and preparation you can pull off  the best destination birthday party around. It’s a farm, so it can be as rustic as you want it, reusing all that you have, or it can be as elegant as you prefer. Either way, there is something about being on a farm, that is unseemingly magical and amazing to all the guests, young and old.
